HSP Consulting Engineers Ltd were commissioned by St Modwen to provide comprehensive engineering input into the design and development of a new training and leisure facility to serve Bet365’s corporate headquarters at Etruria Valley Business Park in Stoke-on-Trent.

The site is located in an area of Stoke where significant backfilling with colliery waste material was adopted some years ago and consequently beneath the building there is some 10 meters of made ground. HSP assessed the strength and characteristics of the made ground and determined that the two storey leisure centre could be constructed on mass concrete foundations, thereby saving considerable sums in terms of the alternative piled solution.
