HSP Consulting applied their engineering expertise to a new storage and distribution facility for Nestle, adjacent to the Phase 1 Bottling Plant in Derbyshire. The building was designed as a Cladrack system where the storage racking supports the cladding and facilitates an ASR (automated storage and retrieval system). The raft foundation was designed and constructed to achieve low settlement and movement to allow the operation of the ASR system.
The storage and distribution facility was built on a reinforced concrete raft foundation due to the high levels of rock and had a retaining wall across the site to split the levels in the building for the dock levellers. Cut and fill was a critical issue but was overcome with intense assistance from both our Civils and Geo Environmental Teams.
