Project overview

The four storey load bearing masonry structure was constructed with pre-cast concrete planks which were strapped to the adjacent walls to act as a lateral tie.

The foundations were piled due to significant quantities of fill across the site area consisting of ash and weak silty clays.  In addition the water table was extremely high.

Pre-cast concrete piles were adopted to  overcome the high water table and were taken down to a depth of 12m to  reach the firm sandstone rock.

The contract for the scheme was a JCT contract and HSP Consulting worked with the  design and build contractor from design conception to the completion of the scheme.
